Calendar Contest Winner's Guide

A comprehensive guide to your Marie Wulfram Photography Calendar Contest Session Experience

Hey there!

From the bottom of my heart and on behalf of WAMAL, THANK YOU for participating in this year's calendar contest!

I KNOW that you're going to enjoy the experience and LOVE the custom artworks that come from our time together.

Let's take a look at the whole process in detail.

Any questions, feel free to text or email!

This is my heart's work. You'll always get the real me; animal lover, mom, autistic. I'm a person just like anyone else and I'm here to help you capture the lasting spirit of your pets.

Lots of Treats + Belly Rubs

I've always got treats on me and I'll never hesitate to rub bellys or scratch that sweet spot. It's hard work but part of the job.

The Experience

Despite only having a short amount of time together, we're going to have fun!

And don't worry about knowing how to stand or pose yourself.

That's the best part about a photo session with your fur-babies! Most of the time you'll simply be loving on them as you normally would, and occasionally I'll ask you to look at me.

Simple and natural!

I promise, even if you think things aren't going well or they just aren't listening, that we're creating great images.

But remember to just enjoy the time, too! We're creating memories as well as works of art.

"Dogs laugh, but they laugh with their tails."

What to Wear

Even if you won't be in many photos

While the focus is of course on your pet, your attire is important, too! Feel free to be as dressed up or casual as you'd like! You're welcome to send me photos of the outfits you're considering and I will offer my feedback.

The key factor here is to dress in whatever you feel good in. If you feel good, that will show in your images.

These can add depth and interest to your photos. Think hats, scarves, belts, jewelry and of course clothing in the cooler months.

Feel free to use whatever color palette you'd like, but try to keep everyone working from the same palette. Consider what would make a good match to your furry companions.

Solid whites or really bright colors as these don't tend to photograph well. Also try to avoid symmetrical patterns as these can be hard to fix if a leash needs to be removed from that area (things with random patterns or florals are generally okay).

Not sure if your outfit choice is a good one or not?

You can always text me a photo of what you're thinking and I'll help you out!

Preparing for Your Session

- Please exercise your dog prior to our session. A bit of play can go a long way to helping them get down to business for our short time together.

- TREATS: I always have a stash of treats, but if your pup is a picky eater or has specific allergies please bring some of what they love!

- Don't feed them too close to our session. Being slightly hungry will aid in their interest for our treats.

- COLLARS: Please bring a flat, simple collar (I have some if you don't). If you need a harness for walking, we can always change them out when we get to the actual shooting location. I can't guarantee that I will be able to remove harnesses or gentle leaders from your dog's final images.

- If your dog has a specific "haircut" that you like, I recommend visiting the groomer a few days prior to our session so as not to overwhelm them with two exciting experiences in one day.

During your session, feel free to take behind the scenes videos and photos of your dog being a super model!

If you share on social media, please tag me so I can share, too.

I'm always available by text or email for active clients. If you ever have any questions or concerns, or just want to chat about your adorable pup, feel free to reach out any time.
